How we can help you succeed with your business change
Exploring Possibilities and Defining Projects
This is for you when you’ve got an idea for change or transformation, but you want to test if there’s an appetite before you progress with a business case.
Through scoping exercises and workshops, we will:
- Define your problem
- Identify stakeholders and who you need to get on board
- Understand your business needs
- Look at your potential options
- Create high level scenario models to shortlist options
High-Level Business Case Development
You’ve scoped your idea and you know there’s appetite for change. Now it’s time to ensure the strategy stacks up and make sure key elements are considered from the start.
I will work with you to develop a high-level business case to identify:
- Project costs
- Timescale
- Additional support requirements
- Expected benefits
Full Business Case Development
Give your business case the best possible chance of success. We’ll work together from the start to scope out the problem and develop the high-level business case.
I will incorporate stakeholder feedback and drill down into the finer details, developing trajectories and models/modelling across workforce, performance and finance.
At every stage, data will be cross-checked with the business case document so that plans and projections are accurate and stand up to scrutiny.
Detailed Business Case Review
Business cases fail when there are inconsistencies in information or they don’t answer key questions.
If your business case is failing to get “over the line”, you’ll get my expertise and insight to identify its weaknesses, recommendations and reworks to ensure it stands up to the scrutiny of the review process.
Strategic and Operational Planning
When data is spread across multiple sources and spreadsheets, making sense of it can be confusing and time consuming.
Working with Service leads and Operational Managers, I’ll build models to understand your demand and capacity, evaluate potential developments, and forecast performance trajectories so you can make the best decisions to improve your performance.
These data stories identify reasons why there are bottlenecks and failures in the wider system. They empower staff to share their stories and look for opportunities to solve their problems.
Financial Modelling and Planning
Financial budgets and forecasts need to reflect strategic and operational decisions, therefore it is critical that you have integrated Operational, Workforce and Financial plans.
I will work with Service Leads and Operational Managers to ensure that robust financial models are in place to reflect the Operational and Workforce plans so you can understand the financial impact of your organisation’s plans.
I can help you develop financial models for your whole business or for discreet services.
Success Stories
“I used to have lots of different trajectories saved in different places. I’d have to look at the outpatient area to look at appointments, who was waiting and where they were in their pathway. Then I’d have to do the same for the inpatients. It was time consuming and made my job hard. I have to present to execs once a week and they just want a snapshot. But the information just wasn’t visual.
I worked with Doug to combine the trajectories. We started with one of the most difficult specialties, which pulled information from multiple areas, so that it would be easier for smaller specialties. I shared my knowledge of the speciality and Doug would be doing the background work. It was a smooth and slick process.
The combined trajectory made a massive difference. We were able to see everything at a glance. I could look at more opportunities to flex capacity. I could give execs an accurate picture of waiting times and demonstrate and justify why I was asking for extra resources. It made me feel better about my job and showed just how hard everybody is working to do what we can to treat our patients.”
